    Training in Oratory Art

This Public Speaking workshop is intended for anyone wishing to improve their public speaking skills.

    Public speaking

The course consists of a three-day workshop run by actors specifically trained as coaches/instructors in the art of oratory. Each session involves small groups to allow individual supervision.

There are many similarities between the actor and public speaker. The enactment of speech and emotions, the pleasure of speaking, the search for an appropriate and distinctive presence, the fluid transmission of a message and consciousness of space and time, are among the ideas put forward and shared.

    Method and objectives

Actors rely on techniques which help them to feel their body and its possibilities. Through practical exercises and concrete situations, this workshop focuses on three fundamental aspects: voice, expression and posture.

The training seeks to enlist the help of the body to ensure physical and emotional stability, freeing up movements and gestures and developing the subject’s inventiveness as a speaker. Work focuses on breathing patterns, the timbre and power of the voice to give words more punch, the ebb and flow of eye movements to remain in touch with the audience at all times.

    Course Content

The workshop takes place over three days: an initial two-day session, followed two to four weeks later by a third day. The interval between the two sessions allows participants to assimilate and experiment with the concepts learned during the first two days.

Speech is at the heart of this training. A filmed interview on the first day allows each participant to establish their own working basis and set up targeted physical and vocal exercises.

The training takes place in a small group (max. 6 participants) in an interactive dynamic where individual progress is useful to everyone. In three complementary stages, the training combines collective and individualized work, listening and speaking, to progress quickly and effectively.
