Marie Jeger was born in 1992 and grew up in a small village in Switzerland. Before coming to Contemporary Dance she worked in several theaters as assistant and studied music peadgogy on viola (Musikakademie Basel and HKB Bern, music and movement/rhythmique). Through out the work in music and pedagogy the body moved into her central focus and became her main interest. At age of 24 she starts to practice dance regularly and gets into choreography. After doing the Intensive Course at SNDO in Amsterdam she enters the BA in Contemporary Dance at La Manufacture and graduates in 2021. She participated in workshops and creations with Thomas Hauert, Eugénie Rebetez, Vera Tussing, Gregory Stauffer, DD Dorvilier, Simone Aughterlony, Marcelo Evelin among many others.
Her tools in performance are body, voice and viola. She performs as a dancer and musician (with cie.zisch, Sarina Scheidegger, Rahel Kraft, Yumi Ito, Kleinmond, Sophie Germanier and her own stringtrio 'crème sauvage'). Her first choreography „wesen" was shown in Bivouac Lausanne, Theater Roxy and will be developped to a group piece in 2023 at Klingental Basel. Her choreographical approach happens by playing with the shape of the human body and navigation of thoughts and movements.
